Venlafaxine is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of medicines called serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Venlafaxine is a treatment for adults with depression and other conditions such as anxiety. 

Warnings and precautions

If you use other medicines that taken together with Venlafaxine, could increase the risk of developing serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition. If you have eye problems, such as certain kinds of glaucoma. If you have a history of high blood pressure, heart problems, abnormal heart rhythm, fits (seizures), hyponatraemia, bleeding disorders, feeling over-excited or euphoric, and aggressive behavior. Do not drink alcohol while being treated with Venlafaxine as it can lead to extreme tiredness and unconsciousness. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Venlafaxine is not for use in children and adolescents
