Inosita Plus 50/500 mg is a prescription medication used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains a combination of two generic ingredients: sitagliptin (50 mg) and metformin (500 mg).

How it works

Inosita Plus uses two different mechanisms to control blood sugar: 

• Sitagliptin: This ingredient is a DPP-4 inhibitor. It works by increasing levels of incretin, a natural substance in the body. Incretins help to control blood sugar by boosting insulin release after a meal and reducing the amount of sugar the liver produces.
• Metformin: This ingredient is a biguanide. It helps to improve the body's sensitivity to insulin. It also decreases the amount of sugar produced by the liver and absorbed from the intestines. 

Uses

• Initial therapy: It can be used as the first treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone are not enough to manage blood sugar.
• Add-on therapy: It can be added to the treatment plan for patients with type 2 diabetes who are not adequately controlled with either sitagliptin or metformin alone.
• Combination therapy: It is also for patients who are already being treated with both sitagliptin and metformin.
