What is Humalog Mix25?

Humalog Mix25 is a mixture of two types of man-made insulin:

• Fast-acting insulin: 25% insulin lispro.
• Longer-acting insulin: 75% insulin lispro protamine suspension. 

This combination helps control blood sugar levels after meals and also provides longer-lasting blood sugar control throughout the day.

How to use the pen

The instructions for using the KwikPen involve several steps: 

• Preparation and Mixing: Wash your hands, confirm the correct insulin type, attach a new needle, and then gently roll and invert the pen to mix the insulin properly.
• Priming: Select 2 units, hold the pen with the needle up to move air bubbles to the top, and push the dose knob until it stops to expel air and ensure insulin is at the needle tip.
• Selecting the dose: Turn the dose knob to the required units.
• Injection: Insert the needle into an appropriate injection site (abdomen, buttocks, upper legs, or upper arms), fully press the dose knob, and count to 5 before withdrawing the needle.
• After injection: Carefully replace the outer needle shield, unscrew and dispose of the needle in a sharps container, and replace the pen cap.
