The 12 year period of maturation gives the blend some complex aromas, including those of light woody notes, early spice, and red-wine-like notes. Also, evident on the nose are notes of scones with clotted cream and vinous strawberry jam, sultanas, dates, digestive biscuits and honey.

On the palate, the Tullamore Dew 12 year old gives a deep spice flavour with a robust yet creamy body cloaked in a definite chocolaty note. It also has light and soft hints of gentle spices, honey, and creamy fruits.

The finish is of medium length with a little oaky note and some citrus, chocolate, and raisins.
