Olyset™ Net became the first bed net to have been categorized as an LLIN by the World Health Organization Pesticide Evaluation Scheme (WHOPES), now superseded by WHO Prequalification (PQ) In 2001. The technology used combines plastic and insecticide technology and expertise – the net fibres are made from hard wearing and highly durable polyethylene which contain permethrin – an extremely effective insecticide that both repels and kills mosquitoes.
