Malanil Paediatric 62.5/25mg Tablets 12s

Malanil Paediatric Tablet contains Atovaquone 62.5 mg and Proguanil hydrochloride 25 mg. MALANIL is a fixed dose combination product which acts as a blood schizonticide and also has activity against the hepatic forms of Plasmodium falciparum. It is indicated for:-Prophylaxis of Plasmodium falciparum malaria.-Treatment of Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Because MALANILis effective against drug sensitive and drug resistant P.falciparum it is especially recommended for prophylaxis and treatment of P.falciparum malaria in areas where the pathogen may be resistant to other antimalarials.

Dosage in Children: -11-20kg body-weight: -One MALANIL tablet (high strength) daily for three consecutive days. 21-30kg body-weight: -Two MALANIL tablets (high strength) as a single dose for three consecutive days. 31-40kg body-weight: -Three MALANIL tablets (high strength) as a single dose for three consecutive days. Greater than 40kg body-weight:-Four MALANIL tablets (high strength) as a single dose for three consecutive days.

Pregnancy: -The safety of atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride when administered concurrently for use in human pregnancy has not been established. Lactation: -The atovaquone concentrations in milk, in a rat study, were 30% of the concurrent atovaquone concentrations in maternal plasma. It is not known whether atovaquone is excreted in human milk.Proguanil is excreted in human milk in small quantities.It is not recommended that mothers receiving MALANILbreast feed their babies.
